Organizing Chair Guy Padulo explains why you should attend the IFSCC Congress.
September 26, 2016

The 29th IFSCC Congress will set the bar higher for all future Congresses to come. There is no mistaking that this Congress is a Cosmetics and Personal Care Educational extravaganza, which has been five years in the making. Join the industry in Orlando, October 30 – November 2, 2016 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort. You won’t want to miss eight spectacular keynote speakers (three of whom are executives from global finished goods houses), 300+ Poster Presentations and 74 Podium Speakers who will provide new knowledge of cosmetic science. All excellent reasons to attend the Congress, here are a few more from the Congress Organizing Chair Guy Padulo: Society of Cosmetic Chemists: How does this Congress differ from SCC events? Guy Padulo: There are several primary differences. For one, as opposed to SCC events which are domestic, the IFSCC Congress is a major global meeting. Number two, SCC events occur every year while a US hosted Congress only occurs every 12-14 years. And number three, the Congress features an Exhibition and poster session as well as three social events in conjunction with the scientific podium presentations. This is much different than our normal December meetings. So attendees will ultimately get the biggest bang for their educational buck. But what is probably the most important difference is that the level of science is raised to a new bar as we have many global contributors! Attendees get to see science and hear science from all the world leaders, not just domestically. There are many people here in the US that have great scientific talent and who have contributed important information to the industry, but there are also many other people around the world that have just as much talent and can offer new perspectives on science and skin care. That is what we want to tap into and that is what differentiates the Congress from an SCC event. SCC: The theme this year is ‘Beyond Dreams into New Frontiers – Inspire, Imagine, Innovate’, what is the significance of this statement? GP: We are all seeking the proverbial Fountain of Youth. And as such, we dream about how to make one’s physical appearance better, primarily to look younger, and to turn back the hands of time. In order to accomplish this feat we need to move forward and go beyond our dreams into the New Frontiers of Cosmetic Science. By attending the Congress you will discover new ideas and technologies which will help you gain further insight into achieving this goal. As we mentioned in a previous announcement, “We hope to “Innovate” new ideas that will “Inspire” you to “Imagine” all the opportunities available to us as cosmetic scientists. SCC: What do you hope Congress Attendees will take away from this event? GP: That is actually a very easy question. With a Congress of this magnitude we hope and want everyone to learn as much as they can. Expand their knowledge on topics that they are familiar with, as well as learn about new subject material that they probably have never heard of before. This Congress has so much to offer from all the presentations and posters, the many new raw materials and technologies that will be offered at the exhibition and then there is the Innotech/Connect Zone where select Universities will discuss their emerging transfer technologies. And since this is a global meeting, we will hear about what is going on at companies in other parts of the world. Besides the learning aspect, Congress attendees will also thoroughly enjoy themselves with the social events and have many fond memories for years to come! There you have it, this Congress will be a perfect blend of science and exciting social events. As we said above, it will set a new platinum bar for all future IFSCC Congresses. And with no SCC December meeting, the 29th IFSCC Congress is the place to be! Register today
